Introduction

We managed to meet personally with Brad who is normally based in Gladstone. Brad happened to be on a visit to Brisbane to visit his brother and popped into the office. We were introduced to Brad by Zane Kemp who sang his praises as a great employee who we just had to meet.

What is your professional background?

I have been a licensed security guard and maritime security guard for the last 22 years, based in Gladstone. My first role as an MSG was actually prior to the legislation (MTOFSA) in 2003.

I did a PFSO course under Harley some years ago.

I have also always been interested in training, in 2014 I did a Cert IV T&A and I have started training for CPA in Gladstone. The plan for me is to initially work to facilitate development of existing staff but I am interested in the possibility to one day be a full time trainer in Gladstone out of the CPA office.

Where are you working now?

I am currently working at WICET, also doing a bit of training for our staff, next week I am running a D&A course on Monday and Wednesday, then back on site.

What other CPA Group sites have you worked?

I have worked with CPA for over 4 years. In my career I have worked at many sites around Gladstone including GLNG, WICET, QAL, DBCT, Callide and even in Brisbane at Incitec Brisbane.

What are your primary responsibilities?

I work as a security guard (Asset Protection Officer) and Maritime Security Guard. I have filled in as a SAPO and a SESO at other sites and of course the training. I am always happy to help out.

What do you find most challenging or fulfilling in your role?

I love the way in security that things change from one day to the next, shutdowns, a different ship, a different crew. Plus of course the training challenge is very exciting.

And what do you do in your spare time?

I have a 6 year old daughter and in the weeks she is with me she is my focus.

I love martial arts, I am currently interested in Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts disciplines.

What would your manager say?

We already know what Zane Kemp thinks as he introduced us to Brad and could not speak highly enough of his willingness to help for any job.

Brad’s manager is Win Marsh (Gladstone Surge and Support Manager) and Brad describes her as a great manager who is always there for support and guidance.

Manager comment

We asked Win Marsh for her comment:

Brad is a person who is always willing to assist both staff and supervisors when an opportunity arises. He is very knowledgeable in his field and is an asset across varies sites for CPA. Now that he has taken on extra duties as a Baseline trainer, he is a great asset to the company. I wish him well.
