The 2018 SA Mines Emergency Response Competition (SAMERC) was delivered during May – this year 5 teams entered the competition from BHP Olympic Dam, OZ Minerals Prominent Hill, SIMEC Mining Whyalla, Perilya and CBH Resources competing across 8 events.

SAMERC is designed to test the skills and knowledge of teams who would be called on to respond to a mine emergency, enhancing existing emergency response and rescue training for the resources sector. The 2018 competition was a huge success, with all teams participating in realistic scenarios that enabled opportunity for learning.
