CPA Group is one of the largest employers of Paramedic personnel deployed to support the mining, oil & gas and other critical industries where hazardous operations and remote locations (often both) necessitate site emergency medical preparedness and capability.

We take great pride in the professionalism of our Paramedic workforce many of whom possess advanced qualifications and skills and who are highly valued by our clients.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), through the Paramedicine Board of Australia has announced that from late 2018, paramedics must be registered with the Board and meet the Board’s registration standards in order to practise in Australia. The title ‘paramedic’ will be protected after November 2018, and only people who hold registration as a paramedic will be able to use this title.

CPA Group are of course monitoring this change in the regulatory environment including potential impact on our staff, site permits and authorities as well as service agreements we have with our clients.

We will be working with our team and note that there will be a grandfathering period where medics will be able to apply for registration with their documented previous experience and qualifications to be taken into account.

As always, governance, compliance and quality of service are at the centre of our response and as market leaders we will ensure industry best practice is the basis of our response to this change. Needless to say, we are monitoring developments and will keep our clients and staff informed along the way.
